Open mail inside a mail in Outlook 2007

Hi,

I have a mail in Outlook 2007, which has a link in it. When the user clicks on the link, i want to open another mail with predefined To address, cc address, subject and content.

How to open a new mail with the above details, when user clicks on the link in the mail he receives?

I would like my sql report to group and sum so that I have this:

When I set up the group(s) how would I do it?

Custom Format expression in SQL reports

I've tried this:

Format(Fields!AcctCode.Value, "######-######-##0")

and

but those don't work.

Bangalore, March 11, 2010: Darwin’s reference to biological symbiosis involves two or more species that commit to a relationship and through their combined efforts and mutual collaborative interactions, both stands to gain success. In a similar vein, there can be no doubt that one of the hottest spaces in enterprise software today is collaboration. It’s no surprise collaboration is getting a lot of interest. The old processes for capturing, authoring and sharing information are stale and inefficient. As such, there is lot of room for achieving productivity improvements through improved user experience. This has been true for all software, but especially so in the enterprise software space where collaboration is essential for daily operation, where every ounce of productivity translates into big dollars.

When we refer to collaboration on a business activity, there are generally two buckets for these processes. The first are activities that would fit within the process of innovation. This might include creating new products, models or business processes. In other words, we are talking about the process of creation and innovation by teams. The second bucket includes activities around executing the business processes. Execution includes the hundreds of processes that run each day to operate the business. These are tactical in nature, and traditionally have key performance indicators (KPIs) measuring the success of a given process.

In this day and age, fast is synonymous with instantaneous. Increasingly, there is less time to dial up a fax machine or wait for a file to slowly attach to e-mail (then wait yet again during sending). This is especially true for entrepreneurs, whose small businesses are built on every advantageous edge that makes them competitive with larger corporations as well as one another. For small business, everything must be real-time – not just information anymore, but also changes. Small business needs collaborative tools that can keep up.

Enter web-based collaborative tools, center stage. These business implementations are the only means fast enough to match the high-speed demands of the Internet-age industry. They achieve instantaneous cooperation despite distance, cost, and other past inhibitive considerations. In support of a powerful storage hub, they allow you to securely store your information, make real-time changes to it, share it openly or discretely, and, most importantly, collaborate on it with family, friends, groups, departments, business teams, clients, vendors, or anyone.

Fast isn't the only measure, though. These tools must be easy, with user-friendly interfaces and intuitive commands. Complicated FTP programs are a thing of the past, and e-mail is too limited (and sometimes too flaky) to fully meet a company's diverse needs. Tools must be cheap. The idea is productivity, and expensive software or services prohibit that goal. Web-based tools fill the demands traditionally met by established application suites, but without their hefty price tags attached. Most of all, though, tools must be reliable. Web-based collaboration does not depend on one machine (PC or Mac) or one server, but reliably and securely functions outside of these constraints in the cloud, so to speak. The information your enterprise team works on in the office all day should still be accessible at your home computer (so you can continue work with them at night). And with the extensive controls built in to web-based tools, even the most sensitive materials remain completely confidential despite their availability within user-defined limitations. Simply put, all-in-all web-based tools make collaboration simple.

In the pre-computer age (before 1970), collaboration was a manual process. This was done mainly in face-to-face meetings and phone calls. The technologies used included calculators, blackboards, telephones, postal mail and pencil on paper. While computers might be part of the process, it was mainframe host oriented that offered no interaction by the participants. This was labor intensive with long cycle times for even simple tasks. In this era, teams needed to be in the same location, or endure significant travel.

When the Internet entered the picture (1980s), it provided a basis for the team to communicate, mainly via email. This allowed teams to collaborate while geographically separated, which further improved the efficiency of the process. Since collaboration allowed teams to extend beyond a single location, they could now include more talented people in other geographies. Other technology advances such as overnight mail, video conferencing, faxing and conference calling further improved the process.

Another emerging area of how web collaboration is impacting execution is through business intelligence networks. These are like Facebook or Twitter on steroids. An example of this would be collecting sales and market intelligence through an internal network – very similar to a social network. The key difference is that in these applications the participants are internal communities, and the network has intelligence. Information is assembled and analytics push back conclusions based on all the inputs. This allows the community to respond quickly to new conditions. In other words, the decision latency is reduced closer to the dream of “real time business.”

Clearly, web collaboration has enabled business execution to be better, cheaper and faster than in the past.

ReportViewer print button refreshes when in Update panel

So, I put my Report Viewer in an update panel, and now when I click the print icon in the report viewer, it simply refreshes the report.

What's going on?

'Unable to load client print control.' error on SSRS

I'm using the ReportViewer from Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms version 8.0.0.0 on a VB.Net 2.0 web project. The server is running SQL 2005 and 2005 SSRS.

The reports come up correctly, but when we try to click the print icon, we receive the message 'Unable to load client print control.'

We've tried some of the solutions on line, and the server is up to date with the latest SQL 2005 patches. We've tried re-installing the latest ReportViewers on the clients.

Any thoughts? Even if we may have tried it, we're willing to look into it.

Active Directory authentication failing for winform running on the domain

I have an app that should only be run by certain users in a group on our domain. The group is defined in AD. The code is talking to AD on the DC but I'm getting "Logon Failure. Unknown user name or bad password." with what I know is a good username/password. The user/password sent in is for the user in the group.

I'm thinking AD has to be configured to allow an anonymous logon query (to get the group collection that the user belongs to) but I'm not finding the answer anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Live encoding App from camera.. What SDKs to use.

I'm wanting to build a live encoding application that can access the stream coming from a firewire connected SD or HD video camera. It also needs to be able to recognize when the camera starts and stops. I made an app like this 6 or 7 years ago using WM9 SDK. Worked like a charm but don't have the code any longer and I realize there are new sdks to work with.

There is WM11 Format SDK, VC-1 SDK. Windows Device Manager, etc.. I know from reading VC-1, I can make the encoder piece but I need to camera conectivity as well. What will I need as far as pieces to start coding from to build this project? I'm comfortable with C# and C++ to a lesser extent. Thanks.

Playing back short Silverlight based sounds

What is the correct way to play a short sound file, perhaps for a user click or touch in Silverlight? After registering the sound as a resource I (and I've noticed others) are doing this in order to get a result:

That feels wrong?

Will Windows Easy Transfer write to a second HD?

I'm about to try and upgrade my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7. I intend to use Windows Easy Transfer (WET) to copy My Documents and all settings, to a safe place, so that I can do a clean install of Windows 7, wiping out Windows XP on my machine. I've been reading about WET and it looks as though it will write either to a network drive or something like a USB drive. My PC has 2 hard drives in it, and the second HD has plenty of free disk space, so I would like to just write to it to save the data. Will WET allow me to write to a second HD on the same system, or does it require some external storage device?

Issues with .NET CF Serial Communication

We've had more trouble than it's worth with serial communication in the compact framework for CE. We've tried the base SerialPort class provided, the OpenNETCF classes, and we've even tried creating our own wrapper class using the native dlls.

The code is being deployed to a mobile data terminal running Windows CE, which is connected, via RS232, to a GPS/GSM unit. When I connect this GSM unit directly to my PC, I can connect and make successful calls to it using HyperTerminal as well as with our wrapper class. But when I convert the Kernel32 calls to CoreDLL calls, the wrapper class fails, as does the CF SerialPort and OpenNETCF classes.

I've decided to start from scratch as I've been racking my brain too much and hacking away at too many things for too long now. Below is a quick example class I've written to communicate with the device.

When I send an AT command to the device, the DataReceived event never fires. I've also tried setting up a tick to try and capture some return data, yet I still get nothing. I can rule out the data sending as the problem, as I can send a message, via SMS, that will cause the device to return data, yet still, nothing happens.

UpdatePanel code to trigger javascript?

I have some code that fires in an update panel.

I have a textbox, a button (submit), and a report control. The report control is refreshed based on the value in the textbox when the button is pressed.

Currently the button and report control are working. What I would like to have happen is that the code also triggers some javascript. Specifically opening a new window.

If I do a whole page refresh (by taking the controls out of the update panel) I can populate an asp.literal with my javascript and the window opens correctly.

I looked for a few examples, but apparently I'm not searching the right terms.

I have a quick question here, can anyone tell me how do we migration the data maintained in Telelogic Tools(DOORS, CM Synergy and Change Synergy) to VSTS 2010. It would be better to hold histories of the files/folders on the target repository. Any idea.. Thanks for your help.

Sync/MIrror Folders Across Servers?

I want to keep two folders between two servers identical while we slowly migrate from one server to another but am having problems finding software to do just that. The folders have to be fairly well synced or we will wind up with duplicate data on one or the other. This includes a fair few deletes which oddly a lot of tools I've tried don't handle that well (e.g. If file is deleted on A then B replicates it back to life).

PS - For network reasons Windows Shares cannot be used. It would have to be HTTP/FTP/SSH or something custom.

Opening word document

I have a asp page, which is used to send e-mail. In the mail, I have a link to open a document, which is in a webpage.

The user gets the email in mail box(outlook 2007/webmail) . When the user clicks on the link in the mail, i want to fetch the username and password of the user and then send it to web application by which the user can be logged in and display(open) the document.

How to achieve this?

Using Windows login on Intranet site still requires a password

We are moving from Forms authentication to Windows authentication on our Intranet site. We've made the change on the staging server, and if we go to the site on the staging server:

http://StagingServer/IntranetApp/

everything works as expected. Users in the appropriate group go to the main screen with no login/credentials needed, and users not in the group go to the NotAuthenticated.aspx page.

However, if a user uses the IP address:

http://192.x.x.5/IntranetApps/

they ARE prompted for credentials. If you provide your domain credentials you do get to the main screen of the application. However, we do not want them to have to RE enter their domain credentials since they had already done so logging into the computer.

Any thoughts on why this might be happening? I'll be happy to provide any additional information that will help resolve this.

WPF and Expression Blend : correct coding practices?

Just got expression blend 3 from webspark thingy, going to try to port one of our enterprise apps into Silverlight. A bit new to the whole WPF thing, I have a small question. What I understand is that with WPF, design and code is somewhat / mostly separated.

Now, say I have a login section with a red label which I want it to become green once the user is logged in. My question is : Do I switch that color inside my C# code? Or can it be done somehow inside the expression blend?

I hope this question makes sense because it's hard to ask the right way while I'm a newbie to WPF.

PHP MSMQ and Dynamics NAV

Helo,

We have a web based product which runs on Apache, PHP & Mysql. Now we have a specific requirement from a customer who wants to connect this system into Navision (Dynamics NAV 5.0). Eventhough the data can be pushed or pulled from Navision using ODBC, the client does not want to by-pass the business logic of Nav. The only option is having the PHP solution creating MSMQ Messages and MSMQ talking to a Nav console client (aka NAS) and NAS in turn call the BL of Nav to process the data.

I know how to do this on ASP.NET but dont find any working example for PHP creating MSMQ.

Can anybody help me?

Error Installing ISAPI Filter in IIS

I'm trying to install HTTP support for Microsoft Message Queuing.

The CBS.log file indicates that it's failing when trying to install the MQ ISAPI filter.

The relevant snippet from the log file follows:
